He stepped into the limelight by co-creating openFrameworks, an open-source toolkit for creative applications, and has continued ever since to delight a large following with a rare playfulness.
Zach currently lives with his wife Molmol Kuo in New York City, where they run their own studio called YesYesNo. Alongside he used to teach at the School for Poetic Computation, an artist-run school that he co-founded, nowadays at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge.Bekanntheit erlangte er durch die Mitautorenschaft an openFrameworks, einer Open-Source-Software für kreatives Programmieren. Seither erfreut er seine zunehmende Bewundererschaft mit programmierter Verspieltheit.

In 1959, the Migros Cooperative, Switzerland’s largest food retailer, bought about 50,000 square meters of land on which was erected, just two years later, one of Switzerland’s first high-rise building, the Herdern Hochhaus. The purpose of the 58-meter tall building was to provide logistics, distribution and storage space for their food delivery chain — including a ripening hall for all the bananas that were dispatched from there to all corners of Switzerland.
Classified as a listed monument in 2012 due to its industrial historical importance, parts of the premises were left empty after an internal reorganisation and have since then been reconverted for cultural activities.Im Jahr 1959 kaufte die Genossenschaft Migros, der grösste Lebensmitteleinzelhändler der Schweiz, etwa 50'000 m2 Land, auf dem nur zwei Jahre später eines der ersten Hochhäuser der Schweiz stand, das Herdern Hochhaus.
Der Zweck des 58 Meter hohen Gebäudes war, Logistik, Vertrieb und Lager für ihre Lieferkette bereitzustellen – einschliesslich einer Reifehalle für Bananen, die von dort aus in alle Ecken der Schweiz transportiert wurden.
Aufgrund seiner historischen industriellen Bedeutung, wurde das Gebäude im Jahr 2012 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. Le but de ce bâtiment haut de 58 mètres est d'assurer la logistique, la distribution et l'espace de stockage de leur chaîne de distribution alimentaire – et comprend même un hall de maturation où séjournaient les bananes avant qu'elles ne soient expédiées aux quatre coins de la Suisse.
En raison de son importance industrielle historique, le bâtiment a été classé monument protégé en 2012. Grazie alla sua importanza storica, nel 2012 l’edificio è inserito nella lista dei siti appartenenti al Patrimonio di umanità – il stesso anno in cui, dopo una riorganizzazione interna, parti dell’impianto sono stati vacati, e messi a disposizioni per uso temporaneo. Following a successfull crowdfunding campaign in 2015, MUDA opened its doors in an old industrial building in Zurich, where it held exhibitions, workshops and public discussions about the relationships of data, algorithms and society. Being largely self-funded it closed in 2020 due to the pandemic, layed dormant for exactly five years and emerged again in an old castle in the south of Switzerland.Infolge einer erfolgreichen Crowdfunding-Kampagne im Jahr 2015 öffnete das MUDA seine Türen in einem alten Industriegebäude Zürichs, wo Ausstellungen, Workshops und öffentliche Diskussionen über die Beziehungen zwischen Daten, Algorithmen und Gesellschaft stattfanden. Da grösstenteils eigenfinanziert, musste es 2020 aufgrund der Pandemie schliessen.
