Im Jahre 2008 schlossen sie sich mit weiteren Freunden zusammen, welche allesamt Interaktiv Design an Les Gobelins in Paris studiert haben. Seit dem Gründungszeitpunkt beschäftigt sich das Kollektiv damit, unser Alltagsleben in neue Perspektiven zu setzen und unterstreicht dabei die unsichtbaren Verbindungen zwischen Raum, Zeit und Bewegung durch das interaktive Erzählen von Geschichten. Der Name Lab212 ist abgeleitet von der Nummer ihres Klassenzimmers an der School of Visual Arts Les Gobelins, an welcher die Mitglieder des Kollektivs sich kennengelernt und ihre ‘do-it-yourself’-Arbeitsweise entwickelt haben, welcher sie bis heute treu geblieben sind. Ihr Atelier im 20. Arrondissement in Paris ist eine Art Spielplatz, in welchem sie in künstlerischer Freiheit neue Ideen entwickeln und erforschen und innovative Experimente erschaffen können.Béatrice Lartigue, Cyril Diagne and Tobias Muthesius are three of the founding members of the French artist collective Lab212.
